Supreme Court directive to
check illegal organ transplant

KARACHI: The Supreme Court of Pakistan has directed the administrative authorities of the country to immediately comply with the implementation of all its directives which were included in the report aimed for curbing the illegal organ transplantation and promotion of deceased organ donation in the country.

In an order issued by the bench of the apex court comprising the Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Saqib Nisar, Justice Umar Ata Bandial and Justice Ijazul Ahsan who directed that report should be implemented by authorities in letter and spirit. They said the compliance of the report covering the period of first six months should also be submitted w.e.f October 1st. The report was finalized at the conclusion of a two-day conference-cum-workshop which held earlier at SIUT on the directive of the Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Saqib Nisar.

The conference attended by over two hundred all stakeholders including media, legal and medical professionals and representatives of law enforcing agencies who deliberated various aspects related to the two issues These issues are confronted to the society at large.

The report directed the transplant units, ICU interventionist, coordinators to fulfill their professional obligations. Similarly, the report asked that both electronic and print media should play their due role in creating awareness among the masses as a part of their social responsibility. On the legal front the legal practitioners were asked to take appropriate steps in legislation. The law enforcing agencies were also asked to keep a vigilance on law violators.

The bench of the apex court also appreciated the services and contribution of Prof Adib Rizvi Director SIUT and Mr. Munir Malik a prominent lawyer. (PR)

Adbi Forum at Multan

MULTAN: Hundreds of doctors along with their families, students and faculty members from medical universities, teachers and common people visited the book fair, organized by Jahan-e-Maseeha Adbi Forum, which is an entity established by PharmEvo for doctors and healthcare providers. Visitors showed keen interest in books on history, literature, culture and various fields of medical profession. The event was held from 20-21st, October 2018.

According to the organizers of the event, thousands of books had been showcased at the book fair, the first of its kind in Multan for healthcare professionals and claimed that a large number of doctors with their families, medical students, and common citizens visited the event. Five well known book sellers displayed their books and thousands of books were purchased by the visitors which were available on highly discounted price. Mr. Ather Sulaiman Corporate Manager PharmEvo welcomed the guests on behalf of the company.

 Former Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani inaugurated the book fair while another Senior Politician Makhdoom Javed Hashmi was the chief guest ion the concluding session. Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani speaking at the occasion said that it was the first book fair of its kind in the history of Multan which is very largely attended.
