Heart Code Basic Life Support
course by CPSP and AHA

LAHORE: The first online Heart Code Basic Life Support course was organized at CPSP in collaboration with American Heart Association recently. The course continued at CPSP Headquarters Karachi and Regional Centre, Lahore, simultaneously. Thirty under training supervisors and doctors participated at CPSP Karachi and Lahore respectively. Prof. Abrar Ashraf Ali, Prof. Kamran Khalid Khawaja, Dr. Ahmad Uzair Qureshi, Dr. Ahsan Masood, Dr. Muhammad Umar and Dr. Aqeela Rashid imparted training to the under training supervisors and doctors of this international heart code basic life support course.

 In this course, the trainee doctors were given training of CPR and ECC according to the newly issued guidelines of American Heart Association. Addressing the inaugural ceremony Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal, Director General International Relations stated that this course is useful in minimizing mortality due to accidents and heart attacks in Pakistan. This course aims to provide immediate first aid medical treatment to save the life of a patient. Apart from doctors, this course will also be organized for nurses and paramedical staff. After attending this course, the success rate of CPR will enhance.  Prof. Abrar Ashraf Ali, the course director stated that this course would be helpful in providing the best preventive measures to save human life. Keeping in view the ever increasing rate of heart diseases and heart attacks in Pakistan, timely preventive measures and first aid is essential. First four minutes are essential during the heart attack to save patient’s life by providing timely proper first aid. This course is also essential for all family members so that in case of heart attack the first aid treatment can be provided at home without wastage of time. (PR)
