Getz Pharma presents latest clinical
data on
its Pegylated Interferon

NEW YORK: Dr. Salim Qureshi (Co Investigator EUROP Trial) from KRL Hospital Islamabad presented Getz Pharma’s Clinical Trial findings on evaluation of its Pegylated Interferon at conference on Viral Hepatitis jointly organized by Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York and the International Association of Providers of AIDS Care (IAPAC).

The conference was held at the New York Academy of Medicine in New York City from April 24-26, 2013. The conference was co-chaired by Professor Douglas T. Dieterich, MD and Professor Mark R. Nelson, MD. Interim results from EUROP (Evaluation of Pegylated Interferon (Unipeg®) for Response in Pakistani Population) were earlier presented last year at EASL Prague, Czech Republic, September 14-16, 2012. Baqai Medical graduates now
eligible to apply for PTAL

KARACHI: The Medical Board of California has reviewed the documentations of Baqai Medical University which meets the criteria for recognition according to California Code of Regulations. Therefore the Graduates of Baqai Medical College are now eligible to apply for California Postgraduate Training Authorization Letter (PTAL) or Physicians and Surgeons Certificate. The Chancellor, Prof. F.U. Baqai stated that this is an achievement for BMU and also for Pakistan. The faculty deserves appreciation for their efforts in imparting quality education to their students.(PR)


Punjab Health Minister visits CPSP
Regional Center Lahore

LAHORE: Dr. Saleema Hashmi, Health Minister, Punjab, visited the Regional Center of College of Physicians & Surgeons Pakistan at Lahore. She addressed the participants of training courses including supervisors and under training doctors at the Center.
Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal, Director General International Relations, threw light on the role of CPSP and told that the leadership of CPSP has signed many MoUs with developed countries consequently the trainee doctors of CPSP are getting emoluments at par with other doctors and the demand of CPSP trainees is increasing day by day.. Prof. Muhammad Shoaib Shafi, Vice President, CPSP said that the prestige of College has enhanced due to untiring efforts of its fellows. He said that the specialists will be available on time to the accidental patients because of emergency programme of CPSP. Prof. Mahmood Ayyaz, National Director for ATLS said that ATLS course is mandatory for all trainees and supervisors. ATLS has proved a reasonable reduction in accidental deaths.(PR)


Awareness programme on Cirrhosis
and its complications

MIRPUR KHAS: Chronic hepatitis and its complications are very much prevalent in our part of the world. We can decrease the morbidity and mortality due to chronic liver diseases by creating awareness regarding the chronic hepatitis and its complications. Prompt recognition of the complaint is the key. In order to create awareness about cirrhosis and its complication, fatty liver diseases (NAFLD) a future threat and liver transplantation Prof Sadik Memon made a presentation at Civl Hospital Mirpur Khas recently.
