 CPSP gets Socrates award 2015

LAHORE: College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan was presented The Socrates Award 2015 in the field of Science, Technology and Medical Education. Prof. Zaffar Ullah Chaudhry President CPSP received this Award in a ceremony held in Oxford UK. The ceremony was attended by renowned Scientists, Technologists and institutions heads of higher medical educationists from many countries of the world.

Prof. Zaffar Ullah Chaudhry, President CPSP along with Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal, Senior Vice President CPSP and Prof. Aamir Zaman Khan Director National Residency Program CPSP also hada meeting with the President of Royal College of Surgeons London, Prof. Clave Marx, President Of Royal College of Pediatrics NeenaModi, and President Royal College of Pathologists London and exchanged views on matter of mutual interest. A MoU has been signed between CPSP and Royal College of Pathologists UK for the training of under training doctors for a specific period of time. The CPSP delegation was assisted by Prof. A.S Chughtai and Prof. Habib-ur-Rahman the CPSP coordinator in UK. (PR)


APPNA delegation visit CPSP
Regional Center Lahore

LAHORE: A delegate of Association of Pakistani Physicians of North America led by Dr. Muhammad Jahanzeb Zeerk APPNA winter chair CME and Dr. Sajid President elect APPNA, accompanied by Dr. Muhammad Attique, Dr. Faryal, Dr. Maria and others visited College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan Regional Center Lahore. They were received by Senior Vice President CPSP Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal, National Director Residency Program Prof. Mahmood Ayyaz, and Controller Examination Prof. Aamir Zaman Khan and by newly elected member of PMDC Prof. Abbrar Ashraf Ali.

Senior Vice President CPSP Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal gave a briefing on national and international contribution of College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan. The delegatescongratulated the President of CPSP Prof. Zaffar Ullah Chaudhry and the council members on achieving Socrates award 2015 in UK.CPSP they remarked was our pride and APPNA has best wishes for this prestigious institutions of the country.   The representative of CPSP and APPNA also held discussions on issue of mutual interest and committed to strengthen the mutual understanding in future. Training workshop for
administrative staff at UHS

LAHORE: The second 3-day workshop, as part of indigenous on-campus training (IOT) for administrative and non-teaching staff, ended at University of Health Sciences (UHS), on November 27, amidst rounds of applauses and accolades by the participants.

The IOT workshops, comprising five different sessions each week from November 17 to 26, were planned by the UHS Department of Medical Education in collaboration with the Higher Education Commission (HEC), under Modern University Governance Programme. Dr. Amina Ahmad was the focal person and Dr. Umaira Ahsan was the coordinator of the training. More than 80 staff members of UHS and its affiliated institutions got training in office administration. The facilitators included Dr. Ihsan ul Haq, Dr. Asad Zaheer, Dr Sidra Saleem and Sajid Ali Nadeem.

HEC member, Learning Innovation and Sports Division, Shaheen Khan, was the chief guest at the concluding session. She said that IOT was a unique opportunity under the auspices of HEC for universitiesnon-teaching staff and employees to refresh their knowledge and enhance their capacity and productivity.

Welcoming the HEC initiative, UHS Director Medical Education, Prof I.A. Naveed, said that such an exercise would increase effectiveness and lessen the communication gap among different stakeholders within and outside the universities. He added that the trainings was aimed at improving the efficiency of non-academic staff and promoting good governance on the campus. At the end, certificates were distributed among the participants and the facilitators of the workshop.
