These innovative state-of-the-art simulation devices will be used to teach basic skills and surgical techniques through repetitive proctored challenges and will enable detection and analysis of surgical errors and near miss incidents without risk to patients. As with flight simulation, near miss detection capabilities anticipate potential errors before they occur and prevent resulting complications. Moreover the risk free training of Surgeons on simulators before they work on real patients will substantially improve the skills, reduce the complications & thus the litigations rate as well. The project will initially start as a dry lab with physical and computer simulators and later on the animal lab will be added to the surgical skills and education lab. It is planned to increase the number of training modules in alignment with college teaching capacity and training programs. The lab with the surgical simulators plans to have modules for Basic Cholecystectomy, Ectopic Pregnancy, Ovarian Cystectomy, Nephrectomy, Single Port and robotic surgery.
