Help International arranges blood
transfusion of thalassemia patients

KARACHI: Thallasemia is an inherited disorder which is transmitted from parents to children. There are around 10 million people in the country who are carriers of this disease but they are unaware of their situation. This was stated by Syed Hasnain Rizvi, Head Media Cell, Help International Welfare Trust while speaking at a function organized for blood transfusion of fifteen thalassemia patients.

Mr. Hasnain Rizvi further said that the biggest problem currently being faced is the lack of awareness and that around 90% of the people don’t even know what thalassemia actually is? There are around thirty five Thalassemia children registered in Help Thalassemia Centre who are provided two to three time blood transfusion every month besides medicines and other investigative facilities. This problem is very rapidly increasing which needs urgent attention and serious efforts of the concerned authorities. We look forward to the participation of the community and request them to come forward and support us by donations and Zakat to cater the need of patients suffering with blood disorders Mr. Rizvi added.
