Society of Surgeons Pakistan
meeting held at FJMU Lahore

LAHORE: Society of Surgeons of Pakistan organized the three day surgical conference which concluded here at Fatima Jinnah Medical University recently.  Prof. Mukhtar Hassan Randhawa was the chief guest. Speaking at the occasion he emphasized the importance of service to the humanity purely on humanitarians ground which was the guarantee of success in the world and hereafter. The President Society of Surgeons Pakistan Lahore Prof. Kamran Khalid Khawaja and Secretary Dr. Ahmad Uzair Qureshi described the aims and objects of the conference and said that the team spirit is the vital element in healthcare. Senior Vice President CPSP Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal said that CPSP will launch two surgical super specialties in transplant and laparoscopic surgery besides Surgical Oncology so that the trained specialists may be provided slots in these specialties.

Prof. Aamer Zaman Khan, Pro-Vice Chancellor FJMU congratulated the Society and assured full cooperation on behalf of FJMU. Prof. Lamawansa, President, College of Surgeons Sri Lankasaid that the issue of SAARC region are common, therefore, a unanimous strategy can be adopted for research and treatment. On this occasion, Prof. Khalid Durrani and Prof. Mumtaz Ahmad were awarded with Life Time Achievement and Icon of Surgery awards.The meeting was very well attended by the surgeons.

Prof. Abdul Razzak Sheikh Dean of Surgery and Council CPSP from Hyderabad was electedas President of Society of Surgeons of Pakistan for the next two years. (PR)
