Principle QAMC

Giving details of the facilities available, Prof. Javed Iqbal said that this center has 02 modular operation theatres with capability of minimal invasive surgery, modern anesthesia workstation and monitoring system. All sorts of energy devices are available to perform haemostasis. Theatres have laminar flow with concept of clean and dirty corridors to control infection through HEPA filter surveillance. Both OR’s have the capability of recording and transmitting audio and video from theater not only to different Ares of center but also can be connected to other institutes in Pakistan and abroad. Prof. Javed Iqbal further claimed that this was one of the most well equipped center both in public and private sectors in Pakistan. We proved this by arranging international hands on training workshops on devices and equipment which were not available in any center of Pakistan like ECMO, EVH, Rota FLOW, Non invasive Hemodynamic monitors and Transport IABP . We also arranged first International training workshop on ECMO, three hands on live case training workshops of EVH at FIC, Faisalabad, ACC CMH Lahore and AFIC, Rawalpindi. We have also arrange all the logistics and machinery for First Ever case of successful ECMO in Punjab at Faisalabad Institute of Cardiology, he added.

Prof. Javed Iqbal feels that it would be unjustified if we do not mention few names who have been the source of guidance in making this center as one of the best not only in Pakistan but also quite distinct in the world. These include Prof. Dr. Jawad Sajid Khan, Prof. Anjum Jalal, and Prof. Maj. Gen. Afsheen Iqbal, Prof. Dr. Khawaja Haroon Khursheed Pasha, Dr. Waseem Akhter (Late) and Prof. Dr. Syed Ijlal Haider Rizvi. We also feel pleasure in the fact that Maquet Academy in Italy has announced to establish their training center here for sub- continent and South East Asia.

Prof. Javed Iqbal further stated that they are the first cardiac center of Pakistan which have complete HIMS and PACS system for whole center in other words we are one of the few paper less environment center of Pakistan which includes:

  5. Picture Archiving and communication System
  6. Theatre automation System

We are one of those two centers in Pakistan having self generation oxygen plants and cylinder refilling system for whole center. This center has state of the art skill lab with 3D and 4D simulators for angiography, angioplasty, PTMC, TAVI, Echocardiography both TTE and TEE, IABP, EVH. We also have full mannequins for BLS, ACLS, ATLS. Only center to have automated CPR devices. We also have mannequin of complete nursing training. To achieve all these distinctions we had to run from pillar to post and left no stone unturned which needed to be turned in its execution. We are the only center in Pakistan having live remote excess of all the monitors and central stations of ICU to our Laptops, palmtops or even cell phones. Our team worked for at least sixteen hours a day, seven days a week for not less than 18 months to realize this dream Prof. Javed Iqbal concluded.
