PESHAWAR: Horizon Welfare Agency Peshawar in collaboration with Ibadat Hospital Peshawar and WPA Zone 15, Royal College of Psychiatrists UK and Pakistan Psychiatric Society are organizing a one day symposium on Essentials of Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Practice here on October 3, 2015.The symposium is also being supported by Asian Federation of Psychiatrists Association, University of the Punjab, Children of War Foundation and WPA Section on Psychiatric Rehabilitation and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

According to the scientific program Prof. Tariq Mufti Principal of Rahman Medial College will present the statement related to Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in undergraduate medical education while Prof.S.M.Sultan will present the statement related to postgraduate medical education. Dr. Afzal Javed will give the world view on Child and Adolescent Psychiatry while Dr. Gordana Milavic Co-Chair Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Section of World Psychiatric Association will present the Mission statement which will be followed by address by the chief guest Prof.M. Hafeezullah Vice Chancellor of Khyber Medical University, Peshawar.

Speakers and the topics to be discussed in session one include the interface with pediatric practiced: Management of ADHD and Epilepsy by Dr. Muhammad Athar from UK, Mood Disorders: Management of Depression and bipolar disorders in everyday clinical practice by Dr. Gordana Milavic from UK. In the next session Dr. Gordana fromUK will speak on Clinical Assessment and Diagnostic formulation while Dr. Ayesha Minhas and Ali Ahsan Mufti will make a presentation on PTSD in Children and Young People: Identification and Management. Their second presentation will be on Children as victim of disaster: Assessment of risk factors amongst children after APS incident. In the last session Dr. Muhammad Athar from UK will speak on early onset of Psychosis: Identification and Management while Prof. Khalid Mufti along with his colleagues will discuss a case. The participants of the symposium will get CME Credit certificates.
