Higher Education Commission, Government of Pakistan has altered the landscape of medical educaiotn in Pakistan and over the years there has been enormous increase in research output and the number of publications from Pakistan. This was stated by Dr. Arshad Ali, Executive Director of Higher Education Commission, Government of Pakistan while speaking at the inaugural session of the Third International Medical Education Conference organized by Council for Collaboration in Medical Education at the University of Health Sciences from October 27-29, 2016.
LAHORE: University of Health Sciences Lahore which remains a hub of academic activity in the field of medical sciences continues its march towards further progress enhancing its international collaboration and networking. October 28,, 2016 was yet another historic day in the life of UHS when it signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Islamic World Science Citation Center (ISC) located at Shiraz in Islamic Republic of Iran. The MOU was signed by Dr. M.J.Dehghani President of ISC on behalf of ISC while Maj. Gen. Prof. Muhammad Aslam Vice Chancellor represented the University of Health Sciences.
LAHORE: Pakistan has made significant progress in the field of research output and scientific publications during the last fifteen years. The data presented by Dr. M. Javad Dehghani President of Islamic World Science Citation Center from Shiraz Iran while speaking at the International Medical Education Conference held at UHS on October 28, 2016 showed that the number of scientific papers published as per Web of Sciences in basic sciences had increased from just sixty eight in the Year 2000 to One thousand seventy two in 2015 (an increase of 1476%).
LAHORE: We need to produce more allied health professionals and paramedics to support medical profession which will help the doctors reducing its work burden. We are seriously deficient in allied health professionals and Punjab Higher Education Commission is working on a feasibility to establish University of Allied Health Sciences. This was stated by Prof. Nizamudin Ahmad, Chairman of Punjab Higher Education Commission while speaking at the concluding session of Third International Medical Education Conference held at University of Health Sciences from October 27-29th 2016.
ISC delegation from Iran shares Pakistan’s research output and publications with various universities
LAHORE: A two member delegation from Islamic World Science Citation Center (ISC) and Regional Information Center for Science and Technology (RIcST) from Shiraz Iran visited Pakistan from October 24-29th 2016. The delegation included Dr. M. J. Dehghani President Islamic World Science Citation Center and Dr.Ali Ghazni Vice President of Regional Information Center for Science and Technology. Main objective of their visit was to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with University of Health Sciences to establish an ISC RIcST sub office at UHS.

KARACHI: Professional Medical Publications publishers of Pulse International and Pakistan Journal of Medical Sciences hosted a dinner reception in Honour of Mr. Latif Sheikh a well-known Pharmacist who retired as Director of Pharmacy Services from Aga Khan University Hospital recently after a distinguished service of over thirty years. The reception held on October 19th at Arena Club was very well attended by Chief Executives and representatives from the pharmaceutical industry including Chairman of PPMA Dr. Kaiser Waheed, senior executives and renowned physicians from Aga Khan University Hospital, pharmacists besides some representatives from Academia and drug regulatory departments.

LAHORE: Pakistan Nursing Council’s (PNC) President Dr. Rafat Jan has said that midwives can prevent about two thirds of deaths among women and new-borns and their role extends from family planning to comprehensive reproductive health services. She was speaking at a seminar on “Revival of midwifery to save mothers and neonates in Pakistan”, organized by the University of Health Sciences (UHS), in collaboration with the University of Wolverhampton, UK, on November 01, 2016.
