draw held at Department of Surgery, Civil Hospital Karachi on 25th October, 2018.

Continuing Prof. Zubair said that cost and company profile are the two major points considered for prescription of a product. At public hospitals much against our wishes we have to use the products which are available and being purchased. Otsuka Prof. Zubair said, no doubt is brand leader and is known for its quality products. Resistance to take preventive measures is a challenging task because sometime senior Para medical staff and healthcare providers do not like if they are asked for some preventive measures because change of habit take some time. We have data regarding Needle stick injuries but do not have evidence to prove that Pricking of infusion bottle alone is a serious threat and major cause of Hepatitis spread. Prof. Zubair appreciated the Otsuka awareness campaign against Hepatitis being carried out through print and electronic media and commended the efforts being made by Otsuka by providing quality preparations which do not need pricking.

Earlier Dr. Ammar Masood, Mr. Samad Wasi, Dr. Arooj Aslam briefed the participants regarding Otsuka awareness campaign. Mr. Rehan giving details of Otsuka products stated that there is a huge difference of quality between Otsuka IV and other I.V preparations. Otsuka had especially designed bottle with empty space, have double marking , nozzle for drip insertion having ethyl spray and covered with polythene bag. Otsuka bottles are collapsible and do not need pricking. Benefits of these quality products only goes to patients if they are prescribed with brand name he added. Dr. Jaweria Andleeb from Children Hospital Multan was the lucky winner for the month of October 2018 draw.
