KARACHI: Over fifteen hundred undergraduates and postgraduates were presented degrees at the Dow University of Health Sciences convocation held on October 18th 2017. Sindh Health Minister Dr. Sikandar Mandhro was the chief guest on this occasion. The degrees were conferred upon the graduates of MBBS, BDS, Pharmacy, Nursing, Medical Technology, and PhDs and other undergraduate and postgraduates of various disciplines. Position holders were also presented 25 gold medals, 30 bronze medals 29 silver medals.

In his address the health minister said that provincial government was giving emphasis to promote healthcare and medical education. We organized a transparent entry test for admission to the medical and dental colleges for which he commended the services of Chairman of the Admission Committee Prof. Saeed Qureshi Vice Chancellor of DUHS and his team. Teaching hospitals, he said, are getting special attention because they provide healthcare not only to the city population but also people living in the rural areas.

In his speech at the occasion Prof. Dr. Saeed Qureshi, Vice-chancellor of Dow University of Health Sciences, said that he did not have a long time, but with the help of Faculty members and Syndicate, the management and examination, administration system has been improved. Further improvement of medical education system remains our priority. Standard medical academic institutions, he further stated, was important to ensure a healthier society. We believe in team work, we have confidence in our team. It is their devotion and dedication that we hope to make further improvements in future using all the available skills and facilities. Our future is bright, he stated. Pro Vice Chancellors, Faculty members of DUHS were also present on this occasion. (PR)
