KARACHI: Fluid & Electrolytes is a delicate subject and there is a dire need to develop its complete and clear understanding among medical professionals especially GPs who are the first to receive patients suffering from Diarrhea, vomiting minor trauma etc. This was stated by Dr. M. Ehmer-Al-Ibran Consultant Plastic Surgeon and Assistant Professor Department of Burns Dow University of Health Sciences & Civil Hospital Karachi while performing Otsuka lucky draw held at Otsuka Head Office here on 28th October 2015. Mr. Habib Navaid (Managing Director Otsuka Pakistan, Mr. Khalid Munir (Sales Head), Mr. M. Ashraf (RSM) Dr. Syed Ali Talha Raza (Medical Advisor) Mr. Muhammad Arshad, Deputy Marketing Manager were also present at the occasion.

Continuing Dr. Ehmer said that Quality of IV fluids is of great importance and Otsuka IV solutions are undoubtedly best in the market.  He appreciated consistent quality standards of Otsuka over the years. He also appreciated “Do not prick IV bottle, It can spread Hepatitis” campaign run by Otsuka Pakistan for the last many years.  He offered his services for the dissemination of Fluid & Electrolyte concept among various medical disciplines.  He urged that these concepts need to be repeated for better and complete understanding.  Presentations for this concept should be practical and easy to understand and should be tailored according to the need of specific audience.  Dr. Ehmer-Al-Ibran emphasized the need of First Aid training among general public especially when we are facing frequent earthquakes, floods and burns emergencies.

Earlier Mr. Muhammad Arshad, Deputy Marketing Manager Otsuka Pakistan, highlighted the aims and objectives of Otsuka awareness campaign against hepatitis. This continuing educational campaign he stated is being run to create awareness regarding hepatitis and to encourage ethical medical practices. Print and electronic media is being used to convey the message bedsides seminars and lectures are being organized in various hospitals. Syringe cutters are also being provided in various hospitals to discard the used syringes he added.  Dr. Riaz Ahmed from THQ Hospital Shor KOT was the lucky winner of a bumper prize for the Month of October, 2015 draw. Other fifteen winners will get consolation prizes.
