Continuing Dr. Amin said that nurses and paramedics in particular need to be reminded again and again about the safe practices regarding the use of Intravenous Infusions so that it becomes a routine practice. In Pakistan pricking of IV bottles is one of the major causative factors for the spread of Hepatitis which has now become an epidemic. It is important that we should approach nursing schools, paramedics, technicians and OT staff to make them aware of the consequences of pricking of IV preparations. He appreciated the contributions of Otsuka in helping the healthcare professionals in various ways like provision of Syringe cutters, patient awareness literature, Jimmy’s Film show etc. Dr. Amin urged the concerned authorities to provide human resources especially in rural areas of Sindh where very expensive and sensitive equipment are lying and being wasted because of non availability of qualified persons. Efforts are needed to change our behavior and attitude, he added.

Earlier Mr. Arshad Khan, Deputy Marketing Manager of Otsuka Pakistan highlighted the activities of Otsuka Pakistan to create awareness about Hepatitis spread using electronic and print media among the public and healthcare professionals.
