For academic career clinician should possess both clinical and research qualifications

Teaching without research is barren. Research enriches teaching, contributes to learning and by its discoveries, transforms our lives. Educational development depends upon both teaching and research. The research is closely linked with teaching and together determines their intellectual tone. Without research teaching without critical and analytical thinking becomes recall of factual memory learnt by rote. The critical and analytical thinking ability, power of imagination and the originality in teaching can only be inculcated by research activities.

Indian University Grants Commission remove 4305 sub-standard journals from its approved list

NEW DELHI: The University Grants Commission of India which funds and overseas higher-education in India has removed four thousand three hundred five sub-standard journals for a list of 30,000 publications which are used for weighing academic performance. According to reports the UGC Standing Committee on notification of Journals evaluated the subset of journals originally submitted for inclusion by universities or listed in Indian Citation Index, and found them to be of poor quality or to contain incorrect or insufficient information.

In case of Uveitis most cases are diagnosed by rheumatologists. Once diagnosis is made, treatment is easy and secondary. We need to learn how to make diagnosis.

Prof. M. Ishaq elected new President of Pakistan Aspirin Foundation

LAHORE: Prof. M. Ishaq a noted cardiologist from Karachi was unanimously elected as the new President of Pakistan Aspirin Foundation at a meeting held here on April 27th 2018 for a two years term. Prof. Shahbaz Kureshi another noted cardiologist from Islamabad was also chosen as President-elect. The meeting was chaired by Prof. Javed Akram the outgoing President of the Foundation. The participants also thanked Prof. Javed Akram for his contribution to promote the aims and objectives of Pakistan Aspirin Foundation during his term and hoped that the new President will follow the traditions set by all the former Presidents to create awareness among the public as well as healthcare professionals to promote the use of Aspirin in its well established indications.

ISLAMABAD: Dr. Syed Tariq Sohail President of Pakistan Association of Private Medical & Dental Institutions was the first speaker in the First Plenary Session during the AEME Conference 2018 held here from March 29-31st 2018.  Speaking on Medical Education in Pakistan, Dr. Tariq Sohail said that this story of medical education   was encouraging with lot of pitfalls. At the time of independence in 1947, there were just two medical colleges i.e. King Edward Medical College at Lahore and Dow Medical College in Sindh which started at Hyderabad and was later shifted to Karachi.

Modern healthcare system provides little opportunities for Doctor Patient relationship

KARACHI: Modern health system provides limited opportunities for doctor patient relationship. Introduction of third parties (insurance companies, employer and hospitals) have become further obstacles towards healthy doctor patient relationship. In all humanity during 59 years of my professional experience I have practiced medicine as caring profession and my students are witness to it. However, during last decade I am appalled that students and residents describe patients only in their laboratory values or information obtained from imaging procedures says Prof. Ejaz Ahmad Vohra, a noted physician and Director Postgraduate Programme Clinical at the Ziauddin Medical University, Karachi.
