KARACHI: Properly trained Healthcare professionals including nurses and paramedics can help to save precious lives by simply following standard operating procedures. There is a dire need of CME activities especially for paramedics and Nurses to remind them to uphold professional ethics. This was stated by Dr. M. Nadeem Muneer, Associate professor of Anesthesiology at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, Karachi. He was performing the Otsuka Lucky draw in connection with their campaign against Hepatitis spread, held at Otsuka Head Office on April 27, 2016.

Continuing Dr. Nadeem said that nurses and paramedics in particular need to be reminded again and again about the safe practices regarding the use of Intravenous Infusions so that it becomes a routine practice. Pricking of IV bottles is one of the major causative factors for the spread of Hepatitis which has now become an epidemic. It is important that Healthcare providers should report adverse drug reactions so that quality products are included in the list by the purchase committees of the hospitals. He appreciated the contributions of Otsuka in helping the healthcare professionals in various ways like provision of Syringe cutters, patient awareness literature, Jimmy’s Film show etc.

Earlier Mr. Arshad Khan, Deputy Marketing Manager of Otsuka Pakistan highlighted the activities of Otsuka Pakistan to create awareness about Hepatitis spread using electronic and print media among the public and healthcare professionals. Mr. Mooinuddin Ansari Product Manager Otsuka Pakistan informed that Otsuka, manufacturing Plant is fully controlled area covered with HEPA Filters and the safest plastic is being used for bottles to provide maximum quality products in the market. Every month sixteen lucky winners are selected through lucky draw from hundreds of entries received. Dr. M. Amin from Amin Hospital, Kamalia was the lucky winner for the month of  April, 2016 draw, while a number of consolation prizes will also be presented to others.
