KARACHI: The Indus Health Network (IHN) is organizing the fifth biennial, multidisciplinary conference – ICON 2020 at a local Hotel in Karachi from January 17-19, 2020. Building Bridges for Better Healthcare is the theme of the conference. It is aimed at promoting innovation in patient care while advocating integrated and collaborative partnerships to improve outcome. The conference showcases the contributions made by the Indus Hospital in changing the horizon of Pakistani healthcare not only through philanthropy, but also by playing its part in teaching future healthcare leaders who will serve the nation with dedication, will be guided by the principles of holistic patient care and will improve the social determinants of health.

The conference has grown from year to year. In 2012, 1394 participants were registered and 195 attended the workshops; in 2014, 1394 participants were registered while 195 attended workshops; in 2016, 2188 were registered, 179 attended workshops, and 1705 attended the symposia; in 2018, 1493 were registered, it had 146 speakers, 48 panelists, 17 moderators, and 10 facilitators.

ICON 2020 is hosting more than 40 national and international speakers who are the leading experts in their fields. One day of the conference is dedicated to allied health services with experts from nursing, psychosocial, rehabilitation, speech and language therapy and pharmacy services. Experts will discuss innovative ideas and the way forward. The participants will get a unique experience of interacting with not only experts but with like-minded individuals. The networking will result in future collaborations.
