Prof. Zafar H. Tanveer

At present we have full faculty as per rules laid down by the Pakistan Medical & Dental Council but we wish to increase it further. We plan to have at least two professors in each ward/department in major specialties along with the needed support staff.  We also plan to give incentives to the teaching faculty by promoting them in the next grade whereby all the Professors will hopefully will be promoted to Grade-21 so that they can concentrate on teaching, training and research with devotion and dedication.

We also plan to start M. Phil, Ph. D, MS and MD degree courses in different specialties. At present these courses are being run in a few specialties besides training for Fellowship of College of Physicians & Surgeons Pakistan. We will also establish linkage with different medical universities and Centers of Excellence within the country as well as overseas to facilitate students, postgraduates and faculty exchange programmes. Appointment of Registrar, Controller of Examinations and other support staff will be discussed in the Syndicate meeting so that these posts are approved and then selection process should be started.

A new building which will house the Vice Chancellor’s secretariat, Registrar, Controller of Examinations and other support staff will be constructed. We have a two acres of land where the Principal’s residence was located. The new building will be constructed there for which necessary arrangements will be made very soon. I have found the entire faculty very supportive and everyone seems to be keenly interested in promoting the image of Nishtar Medical University, Prof. Zafar Tanveer added.
