MULTAN: Dr. Sajid Hussain from Tabba Heart Institute, Karachi won the First Prize worth Rupees Two Hundred Thousand at the Third Cardiology Research Awards poster competition instituted by Health RAB an initiative by PharmEvo Pharmaceuticals during the 48th Annual Conference of Pakistan Cardiac Society held here from 23-25 November, 2018. The topic of his poster was Comparisons of one year major adverse cardiovascular events in patients undergoing PCI versus CABG with underlying Chronic Kidney Disease (Creatinine clearance <30). The prize was worth Rupees two hundred thousand.

of Pakistan Cardiac Society held in Multan recently.

Dr. Fayaz Mujtaba from NICVD earned the second and Dr. Imran Khan from Ayub Medical College Abbottabad won the third prize worth Rupees one hundred thousand and Rupees seventy five thousand respectively. Dr Fayaz Mujtaba’s poster was on “Outcome and quality of life six months after primary percutaneous coronary interventions performed at a rural satellite center of Sindh province” while Dr. Imran’s poster was on “Efficacy of Percutaneous Mitral Commisurotomy in Patients Having Mitral Stenosis with Different Echocardiographic Score”.

Cardiology Research Award, an initiative of the Health Research Advisory Board (HRAB) an entity established by PharmEvo Pharmaceuticals a leading national pharmaceutical company known for its ethical pharmaceutical practices. It provides a platform to Pakistan healthcare professionals to present their research work at the national forum. Cardiology Research Award is a “Medical Research Poster Competition” with an objective to encourage and foster research ecosystem in Pakistan. In this competition 40 leading cardiology institutes of Pakistan were engaged, 42 research papers were received and out of which 20 candidates were shortlisted by HealthRAB. Finalist presented their research posters in a competition held at 48th annual conference of Pakistan Cardiac Society. Prof. Mohammad Hafizullah, Prof Salma Tanveer, Prof Khalil Ahmed Gill and Prof Abdul Ghaffar evaluated posters. An exclusive research arena was established at 48th Annual Pakistan Cardiac Society Conference. On second day posters were evaluated by panel of judges and Dr. Zakiuddin Ahmed along with judges announced the results of the competition (PR).
