Continuing Dr. Mohammad Ali Channa said that general public should be educated on how to prevent Hepatitis B and C for which print and electronic media can play an important role. We are spending millions of rupees on treatment of Hepatitis but not concentrating on preventive strategies which is much more needed and is cost effective too. Public awareness programmes are need of the hour and Pharma companies can play an important role in this regard. They should prioritize their campaigns on prevention rather than treatment. Do not prick IV infusion Bottle campaign has been very effective with the result that pricking of IV infusion bottles has decreased, he added.

Dr. Mohammad Ali Channa further stated that group discussion and small group meetings in various healthcare facilities especially in DHQ/THQ level hospitals should be arranged for CME activities to emphasize on the prevention of the diseases. Healthcare providers should also ensure that quality products are provided to the patients specially when ordered from outside pharmacies because they charge the price of quality products and substandard and low priced products are handed to the patients. He appreciated the efforts of Otsuka Pakistan to create awareness regarding these dangerous practices.

Earlier, Mr. Muhammad Arshad, Marketing Manager Otsuka Pakistan stated that we are playing our role as corporate citizen and Otsuka have designed IV bottles which do not need pricking. It is our mission to provide quality health care products by working efficiently towards customer satisfaction, by ensuring ethical business practices. Dr. Abdul Wahab from Heerabad, Hyderabad was the lucky winner of a Bumper prize for the Month of July 2017 draw.
