JPMC’s fate remains un-decided as the case is still pending in the Supreme Court

KARACHI: The ultimate fate of Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre remains undecided as the case is still pending in the Supreme Court of Pakistan. In the meantime the gradual retirement of the senior faculty members and no fresh induction is seriously affecting not only patient care but also teaching and training of undergraduate as well as postgraduates. The federal government seems to be least interested in retaining this institution and Sindh Government is keen to take charge which is being resisted due to court cases.

Punjab Govt. fails to appoint permanent Vice Chancellors for KEMU & UHS

LAHORE:  Punjab Government has failed to appoint permanent Vice Chancellors for the King Edward Medical University as well as University of Health Sciences and both the institutions are being run and managed on adhoc basis through acting Vice Chancellors for the last many months. It reflects the incompetence and inefficiency of the provincial health department in general and the Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif in particular despite the fact that he is known as one of the most active, honest, hardworking Chief Ministers today.

Medical profession has developed its own standards of behaviour for its members and ethical directives are general in nature developed by medical science. Most pregnancy related mortality and complications are preventable through increased contraceptive use-Dr. Attiya Inayatullah

KARACHI: Dr.Attiya Inayatullah was one of the invited keynote speakers at the recently concluded international conference organized by Society of Obstetricians & Gynecologists of Paksitan here from February 23-25th 2018. In her address she referred to the recent 2017 census which shows Pakistan’s population growth rate of 2.4%. This, she said, has put the country’s family planning intervention in the spotlight.

SOGP signs MOU with Health RAB to compile Maternal Mortality data

LAHORE: Health RAB an entity established by PharmEvo have signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Society of Obstetricians & Gynecologists of Pakistan to compile Maternal Mortality data from all over the country. This MOU was formally signed by President Prof. Farid Al Zafar on behalf of SOGP while Dr. Zaki represented Health RAB.

Editor must have complete independence to ensure quality, standard and timely publication of the journal

ISLAMABAD:  An Editor must enjoy complete editorial freedom to ensure quality, standard and timely publication of a journal.  Contract appointment of the Editor must specify the tenure of office, rights as well as responsibilities. Similarly great care needs to be taken while selecting members of the Editorial Board. Only those should be invited who are keen, interested, have time and can actively contribute. JSMU and Clinision sign MOU to use electronic data capture system for Research

KARACHI: Jinnah Sindh Medical University and Clinision an entity established by PharmEvo have signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the use of electronic data capture (EDC) for its research work. Hence, JSMU becomes the first medical university of Pakistan to provide this facility to its faculty members and postgraduates. The MOU was signed on March 20th by Prof. Tariq Rafi on behalf of JSMU and Syed Jamshed Ahmed CEO of Clinision.
