Coronary Stenting for Angina

l read with great interest the article by Prof. Mahmud Ahmad Akhtar published in Pulse International Vol. 20 No. 1, January 1-14th, 2019 regarding stenting of coronaries. It seems the Stent Mafia has been very effective in convincing the cardiologists to stent coronaries whether beneficial or otherwise.

National Conference on
Medical Journalism

It is my privilege to convey my deep gratitude to you to have invited me to be one of the guest speakers at the National Conference on Medical Journalism hosted by the University of Health Sciences recently. The conference held from January 18-20th, 2019 was a great success. This academic activity was organized in collaboration with EMAME and PAME. The co-partners were HEC, PM&DC, KEMU and FJMU.

The pre-conference workshops were thematic, well facilitated and actively participated by the learners. The Conference was well thought over, well designed, well conducted, well organized and well attended. The UHS leadership and their team deserve a high applause. Mr. Shaukat Ali Jawaid injected intellectual spirit in each scientific sessions and ensured discipline throughout the Conference.

The passion of PAME and UHS to launch Master Program in Medical Journalism is very much appreciated, the first of its kind in the country. However, its Modules, Contact hours, Credit hours, facilitators, delivery model, venue etc., needs to be worked out meticulously taking into account of HEC-requirements. Its Financial Model is also to be worked out to ensure its sustainability. This working paper would then be approved by Advanced Studies & Research Board and Academic Council of UHS for adoption. I wish you all success and promise to be of utmost assistance for this noble academic venture.

I feel indebted to VC UHS for his hospitality throughout the conference and the dinner for faculty members at his elegant house for which we owe our thanks to “Bhabi Sahiba”.
